You should know that the wine culture in Puglia has very ancient roots, dating back to 2000 BC. when the Phoenician merchants landed in Puglia bringing new vines and new cultural techniques. Without wanting to delve too deeply into the historical picture of wine in Puglia, it is important to note that, until a few years ago, Puglia was the most productive Italian region in terms of wine, large numbers, however, to the detriment of quality. In fact, Apulian wines have long been used in the north and in France to strengthen and improve production, especially in less productive years. In recent years, things have changed considerably, the approach has become decidedly more qualitative with the progressive replacement of traditional farming systems and the modernization of much of the equipment used. In support of this renewal, interesting initiatives and events have been created to bring people closer to the culture of good Apulian wine and raise awareness of more conscious consumption: Calici di Stelle, for example, is one of these initiatives and takes place every year in the month of August.
